Short Bio:

Kai comes from a small family that doesn't have any particular ninja abilities that stand out from the norm. So, he prompted himself to master the art of weapons and taijutsu. Kaizu bought his most used weapon, the dual butcher blades, when he graduated into a genin and has been fond of them ever since. Kai's tendency to be dismissive and with a do-whatever-I-want type of attitude has gotten him into trouble many times and sent home with a complaint from a teacher. He never intentionally wants to make them mad, he just doesn't like to be bossed around. He also would carve simple drawings of silly faces onto trees that weren't his property and sometimes got caught, getting into large amounts of trouble for it. He didn't exactly understand why he did that besides the fact that he was bored. He stopped this habit after becoming a genin, however, to the relief of his mother and academy teachers. Him being ordered around annoyed him and he barely participated. This superiority complex of his has since dialed down with age but it's still present.

Getting his team he was a little underwhelming for him. He wasn't happy to be working with Matsuri because he could sense his smugness, and Nami seemed too hesitant to talk naturally. With a sigh and adjustments of his weapon belt, he felt like he just had to deal with the two. Though a little rocky at first, he eventually warmed up to them, though mostly with Nami. He's a bit disconnected from people in general, leading him to sometimes completely avoid eye contact when speaking. Takura has helped Kai out of his shell and he's been able to express himself more now. When he's not working on something, he's just quietly laying down by himself, or next to Nami. He shows his appreciation for his team by doing little favors for them without saying a word. His teammates have gotten used to it and find it rather helpful.

Personality:

Kai gives off a detached aura about him that people notice right off the bat. He was always one with little words and usually has an uninterested expression on his face. Sometimes he may even come off as angry to his peers, when he really isn't. It takes a while for people to learn that he is a deep thinker and actually rather thoughtful. Kai is one to silently observe others and has no friends outside of his team. He has the strong belief of not allowing anyone's ideology to shape who he chooses to be. Due to this, he determines people's characteristics and decides who to be responsive with, and who to avoid.

The kind of people who he deems worth his time remains unknown because the reasoning behind it changes. He once spoke to someone simply for sharing his interest in spicy food, proving it doesn't always depend on their personable attributes. His sense of superiority above people can make him appear to be arrogant and he does tend to be. He isn't one to be kind to everyone and this makes him rather unapproachable. His high idea of himself is sometimes unjustified and he is in fact able to be bested.

During tense situations he's able to keep calm and is great at handling high stake situations. Regardless of his occasional grouchy attitude, he is responsible and keeps things in check and order. He isn't one to give praise to people, so when he actually does compliment someone it's pretty nice. He doesn't like putting effort into words and is pretty annoyed when people force him to talk. Kai doesn't like upsetting those he cares about but often times doesn't realize when he does and needs to be directly told. Listening to his friends when they wanna talk is relaxing for him.

Relations:

Matsuri Tadaharu: Kai is wary of Matsuri's hidden behavior and doesn't like the fact that he wants everyone to adore him. However, he has learned to tolerate it and doesn't get into any pointless arguments about it.

Nami Mizutsuki: Kai enjoys Nami's company even on his worse feeling days. However, it bothers Kaizu that she constantly wants him to talk about himself when he would rather hear more about her, or another topic, as well.

Takura Kusatsu: Kai thinks he's a bit too jokey but does appreciate what he does to teach. He thinks Takura is reliable and and often gets along well with him, giving him a high five.
